Milton J. Yarberry was born in Walnut Ridge Arkansas in
about 1849. In 1880 he was elected as the Sheriff of
Albuquerque New Mexico. He was hanged for murder, February 9, 1883.
During his life he traveled through the following states: Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Texas, Colorado, New Mexico.
His occupations are said to include: Robber, Murderer, Bounty Hunter, Saloon Owner, Brothel Owner, Violinist, Texas Ranger, Town Marshal/Sheriff of Albuquerque.
He was 33 years old when he was hanged.
His real name was not Yarberry...
Robert K. DeArment in his book; Deadly Dozen, gives details about Yarberry, classifying him "as one of the twelve least known but more dangerous gunmen of the Old West".
His last words were; "Gentlemen, you are hanging an innocent man".
Yarberry awaits the gallows, wearing leg irons.
